Phoenix, Ariz., April 13, 2017 – Valley Partnership has announced the topic for its April 21 breakfast. This month’s panel will discuss the economic impact of Luke Air Force base on the Valley and the state of Arizona.
Brigadier General Brook Leonard, Luke’s new Commander of the 56th Fighter Wing, will provide an overview of the base’s current mission and its vision. Luke Air Force base contributes more than $650 million in direct and $2.17 billion in indirect economic impact each year to Arizona’s economy.

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (April 6, 2017) – Four firms and three individuals were honored Tuesday night at the 2017 Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Arizona Marketing Communications Awards held at Casablanca Rooftop Lounge in Old Town Scottsdale.
The annual event recognizes excellence in marketing and communications by professional services firms in the design and building industries. The SMPS Marketing Communications Awards recognize the individuals and teams who create outstanding communication vehicles for architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms.
More than 70 professionals attended Tuesday night’s event.
Individual awards went to Maisha Christian Hagan, Marketer of the Year, Jokake Construction; Travis McCoy, Schaefer, President’s Choice; and Charlie Crews, Small Giants, Up and Comer.

PHOENIX (April 5, 2017) – Grady Gammage Jr., a real estate and zoning attorney and founder of Gammage & Burnham P.L.C., was honored with the Award of Excellence at the 2016 Best of NAIOP last week at the Arizona Biltmore attended by over 1,000 commercial real estate professionals.

Gammage is a part-time professor, a practicing lawyer, an author, a real estate developer, and a former elected official. In his academic role, he is a Senior Fellow at Arizona State University’s Morrison Institute, the Kyl Center for Water Policy, and a Senior Scholar at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability.
NAIOP Arizona’s Award of Excellence is awarded by the Arizona Chapter Board of Directors on an annual basis at the Best of NAIOP event. The criteria for the recipient is an individual who has made a significant, positive impact on the office and industrial commercial real estate market in Arizona over a period of no less than 15 years, as well as their direct volunteer contribution to the chapter.
It was also a big night for repeat winners. Ryan Companies US, Inc. took home Firm of the Year, Butler Design Group was named Architect of the Year and JLL claimed Brokerage Firm of the Year. Liberty Property Trust took home two awards: Owner/Developer of the Year and Spec Industrial Project of the Year for Liberty Center at Rio Salado Industrial Building.
In the brokerage awards, CBRE almost made a clean sweep of the evening. It took home top honors for Industrial, Retail, Investment and Healthcare brokers of the year and Emerging Broker and Rookie Broker of the Year. Todd Noel of Colliers International took home two awards: Office Broker of the Year (with Ryan Timpani) and Tenant Rep Broker of the Year.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (March 30, 2017): NAI Horizon Senior Vice Presidents Isy Sonabend and Rick Foss negotiated a long-term industrial lease for a national refrigeration and specialty appliance company at 10397 W. Van Buren St., in Tolleson.
NAI Horizon represented the tenant, Danby Appliances, Inc., with headquarters in Ontario, Canada, in a deal worth $2.58 million. Danby manufactures a range of household appliances under the brand names Danby, Silhouette, MicroFridge, and BergHOFF. Danby is leasing 155,000 square feet of the 278,000-SF facility.
“Danby selected Phoenix as its Western distribution center, and as well, will be launching a new product line of residential wine refrigerators that will be assembled in Tolleson,” Sonabend said. “Danby’s entrée into Phoenix welcomes a highly respected distributor and quality manufacturer to our business community.”
Amenities of the property include 30-foot clear height, 40 dock-high doors, 14 mechanical pit levelers, T-5 lighting, a 50-foot concrete apron, and a 140-foot truck court. It offers immediate access to the I-10 and Loop 101 freeways.

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (March 28, 2017) – Iconic Design Studio is flexing its creative muscle at the new corporate headquarters of Scottsdale-based Dental Marketing & Management Group (DMMG). The project will include two dental offices.
Besides providing interior design services including custom graphics and custom architectural features, Phoenix-based IDS is providing conceptual exterior design, and logo and branding services to the tenant improvement project for three businesses under one roof at 5717 E. Thomas Rd., in Scottsdale.
The 13,500-square foot building will also house Arcadia Pediatric Dental and Arcadia Orthodontics.
“This company is a rare find,” said IDS Principal Kelli Berry. “I’ve worked with these professionals (Dr. Brad Roberts, Dr. Cayce Wallace, Dr. Lincoln Pace and Dr. Steve Hunsaker) for about four years now. I was impressed with their concern for their patients’ care and positive outcomes.
“Their desire was to create a comfortable and professional environment at Arcadia Orthodontics with a focus on young mothers and their children. Arcadia Pediatric will be a fun space sporting a jungle gym and unusual architectural elements, specialty ceiling features, and interesting wall treatments,” Berry said.
Specialty architectural features include 6-foot toothbrushes that will used at the check-
out areas and over the reception desks.
“The client has invested time and funds to create a state-of-the-art dental facility to offer the best technological care available to its patients,” Berry said. “Especially for children. To have a dentist who understands the inherent fear of a ‘trip to the dentist,’ it was heartwarming to see the care they displayed.”
“Working with the IDS team over the past four years has been a great experience,” Dr. Roberts said. “There are a lot of unknowns when a designer gets involved. However, the logo and branding package, the creativity, acknowledgment of budgets, the high level of customer service, teamwork, and their ability to find new ways and ideas to solve problems has allowed us to focus on what we do best – provide unmatched dental care. Completion of the estimated $5 million project is fall of this year.
“We designed their interior and exterior signage as well as the salvaged DMMG portion of existing building,” Berry said. “We designed the façade of the building in conjunction with the fine tuning of the architect, but it is our design. The landscaping will be xeriscape.”
Camwest Group, a development/construction company with an emphasis on dental and medical offices, is the general contractor. Other firms involved include Fulton Architects, AWE Corporate Interiors, and LisaMacStudio.

PHOENIX, March 27, 2017 – The Discovery Triangle Development Corporation (DTDC) has announced the appointment of Alisa Lyons of SLOAN LYONS Public Affairs as its new CEO. Lyons succeeds Don Keuth, founder of DTDC who passed away in early 2017.
The Discovery Triangle Development Corporation is a 501c3 organization, a public/private partnership that deploys its expertise in redevelopment, public financing and incentives and market knowledge to attract investment to the urban cores of Tempe and Phoenix, a region known as the Discovery Triangle.

Valley Partnership, the Valley of the Sun’s premier advocacy group for responsible development, is seeking applications for its 2017 community project.
The Valley Partnership Community Project focuses on upgrading the exteriors of local charities. Types of charities selected usually benefit children and are unable to get funding from other sources.
Valley Partnership has been hosting its annual community project for 30 years, contributing $4 million to the community. Last year, Valley Partnership created a fitness park at Sunshine Acres in Mesa.
Deadline for grant applications is Friday, April 7. A site inspection and interview are required to qualify. Final selections will be made on Wednesday, June 14.
Valley Partnership members will volunteer on the first Saturday of November, making exterior upgrades to the selected organization.
