PHOENIX, ARIZONA (December 11, 2018) – NAI Horizon Senior Vice President Jeff Adams represented the buyer and the seller in the $1.4 million acquisition of a freestanding retail building at 460 N. Country Club in Mesa, Arizona.
Adams represented AZIZ, LLC, an Arizona limited liability company of Tempe, Arizona, in its purchase of the 32,400-square-foot property. Adams also represented the seller, Shield of Faith Christian Center, an Arizona non-profit corporation of Gilbert, Arizona.
“This transactions was a win for both sides,” Adams said. “The buyer was able to complete his acquisition of the entire arterial corner consisting of nearly 77,000 SF on roughly 7.53 acres, increasing his future flexibility. The seller is moving into a new space that better fits its needs. This was a smooth transaction with two cooperative, willing parties.”
The buyer plans to run an import business out of the building, which sits on 2.33 acres. The building also will serve as a storage facility. It features 100 percent improved HVAC system and is an arterial corner facility in Mesa.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (December 11, 2018) – Arizona Multihousing Association, the statewide trade group for the apartment industry, elected 2019 officers and board members at its December 6 board meeting.
Assuming the chair is John Carlson, President of Mark-Taylor Residential. The rest of the leadership group comprises Wendy Weiske, vice chair, Dunlap & Magee; Kim Pacheco, treasurer, Scotia Group Management; Reid Butler, secretary, Butler Housing Company; Nicole Wray, immediate past chair, Greystar; and Adam Grecco, AMC executive, Burns Pest Elimination.
“My goal is to energize and engage,” Carlson said. “We have a board that is 50 strong, the industry is growing, and we are at the forefront of providing quality housing to over 37 percent of Arizonans. The success of the apartment industry is something we’re proud of. It’s like being the Yankees. Everyone is chasing you and some are jealous.
“Being in that role puts a certain amount of responsibility on us. This industry is as strong as ever. Through our legislative work and affiliation with NAA (National Apartment Association), we intend to keep it going strong. We’re the fifth largest NAA affiliate in the U.S. and one of the most proactive; we’re also the fourth largest trade organization in Arizona. I’m looking forward to a great year,” Carlson said.

CHANDLER, ARIZONA (December 5, 2018) – Arrowhead Builders, a Native American-owned general contractor, recently broke ground in Scottsdale on the 43-acre Sierra Bloom Wellness Campus with plans next year to break ground on a 119-room Holiday Inn.
Sierra Bloom Wellness Campus will be built on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land at the Loop 101 and 90th Street in North Scottsdale. The project comprises two phases of full site development. Groundbreaking in late October included $5 million in infrastructure for grading, roadways, streets, utilities, sewer, landscape, and signage.
The campus will feature a wide range of medical uses including behavioral health, assisted living/memory care, and multi-tenant medical office and retail.

A prominent element of the mixed-use master plan, to be developed by the Monaco Group, LLC, will be a 78,577 SF, 119-key Holiday Inn scheduled to break ground in 1Q 2019 and open in 1Q 2020. The design of the hotel, 9090 E. Horseshoe Rd., Scottsdale, will include cultural themes and designs consistent with community’s traditions and heritage.
Arrowhead Builders recently opened its office in Chandler on the Gila River Indian Community’s land. Arrowhead Builders features a growing staff, more than 50 percent of which is Native American. Its focus includes gaming, hospitality, healthcare, education, cultural/community projects, and multifamily housing.
“We are working with the Monaco Group to provide a unique approach to project delivery and integrated design by providing oversight of not only the construction and interiors but providing a full turn-key solution management of all the FFE and OSE for the client,” said Kari McCormick, Vice President of Client Relations for Arrowhead Builders.
“I also have a unique tie to this project,” McCormick added. “My mother was an educator in the community. For us to get our first ‘larger’ project is really a full-circle experience for me.”

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (November 28, 2018) – NAI Horizon Associate Matt Harper, CCIM, represented the buyer in the $4.7 million acquisition of a freestanding, four-tenant retail pad in Glendale, Arizona.
Harper represented AXG COM 1, LLC, of Peoria, Arizona, in its purchase of the 11,878-square-foot property at 8280 W. Union Hills in Glendale.
“This is a great asset for my client to add to their growing portfolio,” Harper said. “Its location is in one of the fastest growing submarkets of the West Valley. Glendale is experiencing a surge in workforce and new residents and this asset will benefit from the growth.”

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (November 26, 2018) – NAI Horizon negotiated a long-term lease on behalf of the landlord for tire sales and service retailer Tire Works at Queen Creek Fiesta in Queen Creek, Arizona.
The NAI Horizon retail properties team of Senior Vice Presidents Chris Gerow, Shelby Tworek, Gabe Ortega, and Associate Patrick Anthon represented the landlord, Queen Creek Fiesta, LLC of Scottsdale, Arizona, in the transaction totaling $2.9 million.
“This was a great company to work with,” Gerow said. “This location is between AAMCO and Brake Masters and should be a top-performing store for many years.”
Tire Works will occupy a 5,400 SF pad at Queen Creek Fiesta, 21545 S. Ellsworth Loop Rd., in Queen Creek. Queen Creek Fiesta is anchored by a Planet Fitness. Other tenants scheduled to open include Five Guys, Hand and Stone, and ATI Physical Therapy.

Kimberly Davids
>> Jeri L. Williams was appointed Police Chief of the Phoenix Police Department in October 2016. She oversees the largest police department in Arizona responsible for providing law enforcement services to the fifth-largest city in the U.S. Chief Williams oversees a staff of nearly 4,000 employees and manages an annual budget that exceeds $600 million. Chief Williams is a 30-year law enforcement veteran and an accomplished police executive. She is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA) and the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP).
>> Cathy Teeter oversees the day-to-day business operations for the advisory practice and financial performance for CBRE’s Phoenix office. Teeter joined CBRE as Director of Operations for the Southwest Region in 2014. She was responsible for the implementation and oversight of the firm’s new local market operations structure. Most recently, she was promoted to Senior Director, Sales Management, where she was responsible for the development of CBRE’s occupier business and sales professionals in the Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Albuquerque markets.
>> Kimberly Davids is General Manager for The Weitz Company’s Arizona office. With 18 years of experience in construction, Davids possesses knowledge and relationships that are difficult to replicate. Her ability to organize and lead projects has been widely recognized throughout her career in a variety of roles. In 2015, she joined The Weitz Company as Senior Project Manager. She was asked to relocate to provide oversight and management on a difficult project for a Weitz office in another region. Upon her return to Phoenix in 2017 she was named General Manager.

>> Lisa Cagnolatti-Daniels serves in a leadership capacity for numerous community organizations focused on improving educational opportunities for underserved youth and enhancing the lives of women and girls around the world. She is a board member of the National College Resources Foundation and the International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute. She was previously Board Chairwoman for the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles and is a current Board member of the YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix.
