Ryan House Celebrates Seven Years Serving Arizona’s Most Medically Fragile Children and Their Families

Ryan House Celebrates Seven Years Serving Arizona’s Most Medically Fragile Children and Their Families

PHOENIX (March 29, 2017) – The Board of Visitors Ryan House, a Phoenix-based non-profit and leader in pediatric palliative care, announced today that it’s celebrating its seventh anniversary of serving Arizona’s most medically fragile children and their families including respite care, palliative care, end-of-life care, child life and bereavement.

The first of its kind Arizona and one of only two in the country, Ryan House is more than a facility; it is an innovative concept with programs and services at the forefront of pediatric palliative care.

Relying 100% on philanthropic donations, Ryan House represents the best in health care for children with special medical needs and their families. The care delivered is coordinated, compassionate, patient-centered and provides a continuum of care throughout the trajectory of a child’s condition.

The care is also cost effective and prevents costly visits to the emergency room for respite and pain management. Like adult palliative care, pediatric palliative care lowers overall expenditures. Ryan House and like-home in California, George Mark, have yet to be recognized by the healthcare system.

“As Ryan House celebrates its seventh year with open doors and open hearts, we are proud to be a national leader in pediatric palliative care,” said Ryan House Executive Director Alyssa Crockett. “Our vision is to create a sustainable model for other states to replicate.”

Despite how integral the care is to families and the cost effective model the care is not being reimbursed.

“We will continue to fight until every state in the U.S. has a pediatric care facility like Ryan House,” Crockett said. “Every child in the U.S. should be able to access this care, not just children in Arizona and California.”

Ryan House is a home built by love. A home that the community has embraced for seven years. Ryan House will continue its mission to provide world-class care and programs and embrace all children and their families as they navigate life-limiting or end of life journeys.

“Ryan House will continue to pioneer and fight for a model of care that our country so desperately needs and our children so desperately deserve,” she said. “We will also continue to provide joy to these children and unsurpassed care and programs that ensures they are living their best life possible.”

Interior design firm IDS putting bite into Scottsdale dental building

Interior design firm IDS putting bite into Scottsdale dental building

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (March 28, 2017) – Iconic Design Studio is flexing its creative muscle at the new corporate headquarters of Scottsdale-based Dental Marketing & Management Group (DMMG). The project will include two dental offices.

Besides providing interior design services including custom graphics and custom architectural features, Phoenix-based IDS is providing conceptual exterior design, and logo and branding services to the tenant improvement project for three businesses under one roof at 5717 E. Thomas Rd., in Scottsdale.

The 13,500-square foot building will also house Arcadia Pediatric Dental and Arcadia Orthodontics.

“This company is a rare find,” said IDS Principal Kelli Berry. “I’ve worked with these professionals (Dr. Brad Roberts, Dr. Cayce Wallace, Dr. Lincoln Pace and Dr. Steve Hunsaker) for about four years now. I was impressed with their concern for their patients’ care and positive outcomes.

“Their desire was to create a comfortable and professional environment at Arcadia Orthodontics with a focus on young mothers and their children. Arcadia Pediatric will be a fun space sporting a jungle gym and unusual architectural elements, specialty ceiling features, and interesting wall treatments,” Berry said.

Specialty architectural features include 6-foot toothbrushes that will used at the check-out areas and over the reception desks.

“The client has invested time and funds to create a state-of-the-art dental facility to offer the best technological care available to its patients,” Berry said. “Especially for children. To have a dentist who understands the inherent fear of a ‘trip to the dentist,’ it was heartwarming to see the care they displayed.”

“Working with the IDS team over the past four years has been a great experience,” Dr. Roberts said. “There are a lot of unknowns when a designer gets involved. However, the logo and branding package, the creativity, acknowledgment of budgets, the high level of customer service, teamwork, and their ability to find new ways and ideas to solve problems has allowed us to focus on what we do best – provide unmatched dental care. They are a valuable trusted team member.

An IDA architectural feature: a 6-foot toothbrush.

“We’re excited to create a collaborative space allowing us to more effectively support our multi-state operation currently in Arizona, Texas, Mississippi, and North Carolina. In addition, we will be bringing the experience and knowledge of opening 30 successful offices to both Arcadia Pediatric Dental and Arcadia Orthodontics,” Dr. Roberts said.

Completion of the estimated $5 million project is fall of this year.

“We designed their interior and exterior signage as well as the salvaged DMMG portion of existing building,” Berry said. “We designed the façade of the building in conjunction with the fine tuning of the architect, but it is our design. The landscaping will be xeriscape.”

Camwest Group, a development/construction company with an emphasis on dental and medical offices, is the general contractor. Other firms involved include Fulton Architects, AWE Corporate Interiors, and LisaMacStudio.

Sports grill helps Chandler site get back in the game

Sports grill helps Chandler site get back in the game

Sigma Contracting, DPA Architects breathe life into area

Scottsdale, Az. (March 16, 2017) – The ownership team of Blue 32 Sports Grill continued its business plan of expansion by engaging a pair of locally owned companies to design and construct its fourth location, bringing life to a Southeast Valley corner that has been a blight for Chandler residents.

Scottsdale-based firms Sigma Contracting and DPA Architects collaborated on the 4,000 SF restaurant at the NEC of Arizona Avenue and Chandler Heights Road in Chandler.

Blue 32, which has been honored by CNN on its list of “101 of the best sports bars in the U.S.,” is also locally owned and operated. Construction cost for the Blue 32 tenant improvement project was approximately $700,000.

“It was a pleasure to negotiate this project with owners that not only know their product well but also understand the complexity of restaurant construction,” said Sigma President Dan Hinkson.

The new restaurant is one of the first few projects to be delivered to the 18-acre site. The project was started in 2007 and shut down in 2008 when the economic turndown hit the Valley. Due to exposure to the elements over the years, there was much-required remediation.

Sigma completed and turned over the infrastructure of the site, which also calls for a BASIS charter school, the first Arizona Alamo Drafthouse Theater, and other retail businesses.

Subcontractors for the Blue 32 project included Northern Arizona Refrigeration, Fox Valley Electric, R&M Concrete, Sierra Masonry, and A Professional Commercial Plumbing Services.
