Renaissance Construction, a family-oriented industry leader, rebrands, and looks ahead to its next 30 years of building lasting relationships

Renaissance Construction, a family-oriented industry leader, rebrands, and looks ahead to its next 30 years of building lasting relationships

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (June 23, 2022) – A new company name. A new brand.  A new team of leaders. After 30 years, still – and always – a family business.

Historically known as an industrial new-build firm, Renaissance Construction – formerly Renaissance Companies – is rebranding and shifting its focus to encompass business on both ends, new-build and tenant improvements, among several market types, to support its overall strategy.

Founded in 1991, Renaissance Construction is also celebrating its 30th anniversary. The next chapter in the company’s story transcends the brand itself, further cementing its influence on the industry at large.

When Jill Porter took over the company as Chairwoman of the Board after the passing of her husband Craig Porter in 2020, Renaissance became the largest female-owned construction company in Arizona, a major differentiator for the organization and a milestone for the Southwest construction community.

“The reason Renaissance Construction is still going strong after 30 years in a highly transactional, rapid turnover industry? We are built on a strong foundation,” she said.

Jill Porter

Renaissance has become the gold standard in the Arizona construction industry and continues to build its reputation for doing things differently. The new brand is a representation of just that – it’s different.

“The new brand is refined, sophisticated and innovative – just like our team and our approach to how we build. This new brand pays homage to the pillar in past logos while putting a modern twist on it,” said Ali Brooks, Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Process Improvement. “It’s truly symbolic to the meaning of the Renaissance being ‘the revival’ as we look to start a new chapter with new leadership and the next generation.

Ali Brooks

“By rebranding, we pay tribute to the past 30 years and celebrate what is to come. We have hit pause and have taken the time to reflect on what is important to us as a company, strategically realign our goals to fit our vision, and reposition ourselves within the industry. It’s an exciting time that is worthy of a new brand while celebrating our team members who have been with us every step of the way,” Brooks said.

That includes people with the right intangibles, said Tyler Elmer, Executive Vice President, Construction. Creative thinkers. Problem solvers.

“It’s not about the position or the number. It’s not about the title; it’s about the person and how we can lead them to be and do their best each day while holding one another to that standard,” Elmer said. “As leaders, we encourage each team member to embrace new principles and implement them.  This allows us to address an issue as a challenge versus a problem and promote our team member’s creativity to create a solution.

“Our leaders that come from the mindset know how to support our team members. Feel empowered and come to the table with problems. Leaders working together with each department will always produce excellent results,” Elmer added.

Tyler Elmer

Renaissance Construction is growing its team by consistently recruiting and retaining top-tier talent: both in corporate support team members such as new business and project managers as well as field team members such as superintendents and project engineers. It now boasts 60 dedicated employees, 20 percent of which are women and 45 percent of which are minorities.

Experience is abundant at Renaissance Construction. Among company employees, six industry professionals possess more than 20 years tenure with Renaissance, two team members possess more than 15 years with Renaissance and two team members have more than 10 years with Renaissance.

Renaissance Construction is redefining its pre-construction team to better serve existing and potential clients on the front end with constructability and technology services such as BIM and AutoCAD. This team will heavily support both business development and construction teams to ensure a smooth transition from bid to build.

With a new face at the helm, changes were made to the leadership team. It comprises Kelly McKenna, President; Don Miller, CFO; Chelsea Porter, Executive Vice President, Business Development; David Tilson, Frank De La Riva, and Raymond Zavalla, Vice Presidents, Business Development; David Mettler, Manager of Construction Technology; and Elmer and Brooks.

Historically, Renaissance Construction has been identified as a general contractor of massive industrial buildings and also tenant improvement on smaller projects. This is where the strategy is shifting. Elmer said Renaissance is more forward-thinking, enabling it to anticipate the needs of its clients and become a more versatile construction company.

“We have to be able to handle the changing dynamics of the industry and take into account how the economy and supply and demand are affecting our clients,” Elmer said. “We are securing our foundation and redefining policies to stay current with an evolving environment. To be successful in that regard we have to empower our team members to make confident and strong decisions, benefiting our clients.”

For Renaissance, success isn’t defined merely by a stellar end product, but by pushing every step in the process to a higher standard. Honoring the craft means doing a job well and treating people right. Building relationships – not just buildings – internally and externally.

The construction industry is often transactional, making Renaissance’s warmth a key differentiator to industry partners and prospective team members alike. As a testament to the team’s commitment to the company’s vision, Renaissance’s new identity will show off the brand’s exemplary work without losing the story of the people behind it.

Internal changes also include expanding team member benefits and perks, including profit sharing (an initiative for 2023), work-from-home opportunities, gas mileage perks, and a pet-friendly office. Renaissance is also in the process of completing its licensing in Nevada.

The Renaissance rebrand includes the launch of its new name, new logo, and new website, www.RenConCo.com.

Opening of an office in Tucson is next step in RestorationHQ ushering its best practices into a new market

Opening of an office in Tucson is next step in RestorationHQ ushering its best practices into a new market

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (June 15, 2022) – Passion and accountability. Taking extreme ownership. Ability to help clients in a time of need.

Those are a few of the commitments RestorationHQ, a commercial-only emergency services general contractor, will bring to a new Tucson office, the company announced. It will provide services that it offers its clients in the Valley.

Tucson is synonymous with innovation. Tucson is diverse. It’s a relatively small city, but not when it comes to innovation and diversity.

RestorationHQ Owner Sergei Guk

“We will be officially opening the doors to our Tucson location on July 5 just in time for the summer monsoon season,” said RestorationHQ President and Owner Sergei Guk. “We added two vertical development managers to forge relationships in Tucson, we joined industry trade associations to become part of the Tucson community, and will be partnering with local initiatives to give back.”

Determined to set new standards for the industry, RestorationHQ serves the commercial space as a friend, partner, and teammate. It considers Tucson a community defined by innovation, history, technology, vision, stability, and culture.

“Tucson is a community built on family and friends; it is legacy and home,” Guk said. “Our goal is to align ourselves with our clients and continue to evolve and grow. To be that family and friend.”

RestorationHQ services include emergency response and mitigation from water intrusions and fire damage; mold remediation; asbestos abatement; hazmat/bio-cleaning services; post-mitigation reconstruction and other building-related emergency issues.

Guk said the Tucson location at 944 W. Grant Road will comprise a new office and warehouse.

“We are looking forward to taking our knowledge garnered, our best practices formulated over the years, and applying them to the Tucson market to help create better custom solutions for the commercial customer there,” Guk said. “In order to be prepared to service the Tucson market, we had to ensure that all of our resources were located locally, allowing for a faster response time.”

Since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, RHQ has refined and developed its internal structure and processes and strengthened its partnerships, Guk said. RestorationHQ experienced a 20 percent staffing growth in 2021 with a restructured marketing and sales team to initiate growth in the new markets.

There is another reason for expanding the company in Tucson, Guk said.

“Opening the Tucson office is our next step in building a franchise model,” he said. “We focused intentional effort in building a well-grounded standard operating procedure from initial phone call to job completion and every detail necessary to maintain continuity of operations. This is our opportunity to showcase these efforts and expand our passion for servicing our commercial clients. Tucson is the first step toward launching our franchise model that will eventually cross state lines as we continue to scale our business model.”

RestorationHQ holds more than 20 current certifications, trainings, and safety courses including the IICRC (the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, the certifying body for the inspection, cleaning, and restoration industry), AHERA Accreditation (Asbestos Hazards Emergency Response Act), EPA, OSHA, and other governing bodies responsible for compliance regulation and continued education.

Land Advisors Organization facilitated this land sale, representing the seller.

Scottsdale, Ariz. (June 3, 2022) – Asante Development Partners, a venture between Lennar Homes, Pulte Homes, and Taylor Morrison Homes, recently completed the purchase of a premier 836-acre land parcel in the city of Surprise, Arizona, for $111.7 million.

The land parcel is located within the Asante Planned Community in north Surprise and includes 752 acres of single-family residential land, (totaling +/-2,750 lots), as well as 56 acres of high-density residential land and 28 acres of commercial land.  Asante, which was initially entitled in 2003, is generally located west of 163rd Avenue and north of Pat Tillman Blvd and offers convenient access to the Loop 303 and the growing northwest Valley retail and employment corridors.

Land Advisors Organization’s advisors Mike Schwab, Greg Vogel, Bret Rinehart, Ryan Semro and Ben Heglie represented the seller, HE Capital Asante LLC, based in Dallas, Texas, which has owned the property since 2009.

“The Northwest Valley is one of the most active development areas in the Valley.  This acquisition provides all three builders with the opportunity to continue their delivery of high-quality housing to the north Surprise market for the next 4 to 7 years,” said Mike Schwab, principal and designated broker with Land Advisors Organization. “By joining forces, these builders will provide future residents of the community with a range of diverse new home options, further adding to the area’s attractiveness.”

Real Estate Daily News welcomes TREND report to its suite of offerings in Tucson, Southern Arizona

Real Estate Daily News welcomes TREND report to its suite of offerings in Tucson, Southern Arizona

TUCSON, ARIZ.  (June 3, 2022) – The two longest-running and most respected real estate news sources in Southern Arizona – TREND report and Real Estate Daily News – will operate under one management, according to Karen Schutte, current editor/publisher of Real Estate Daily News. Schutte will also serve as editor/publisher of TREND report.

TREND report, a monthly publication provides insight into changing opportunities in the commercial real estate market through insightful articles written by industry experts. The TREND report joins the family of Real Estate Daily News, a daily online publication on real estate and the economy, and RED Comps, a comprehensive subscription-based searchable database for commercial sales comps in southern Arizona.

“Joining forces with The Real Estate Daily News and RED Comps creates a win-win for TREND report subscribers and advertisers, who will now have premier access and exposure to regional real estate trends and deal makers,” said Lucinda Smedley, founder of TREND report.

Schutte will oversee the daily operation of both news sources and Smedley will continue as a professional advisor at the TREND report.

“I have been collaborating with Lucinda and her team at TREND report long enough to recognize that trends are a CEO-level ‘problem and solution’ because suddenly, every organization needs to evaluate if they have the right products, right markets, and right services in these changing times,” Schutte said. “My role at The Real Estate Daily News and RED Comps will remain unaltered, continuing to shine a light on commercial real estate deals every day.

“I look forward to taking TREND report to its next level,” Schutte said. “No one can predict the future; however, as we emerge from a new crisis, the Roaring 20s seem to be returning with all the innovations and inventions within the chaos.”

In times of rapid change such as these, consumer trends are crucial. Trends provide the industry with clues to decipher emerging needs, shifts in opportunity, and changes in consumer behavior whether it be in real estate or consumer goods.
