PHOENIX, ARIZONA (November 9, 2017) – NAI Horizon Senior Vice President Denise Nunez partnered with Kris Wessel, a commercial specialist with NAI Martens, in negotiating the $2.05 million sale of Budget Storage and U-Haul in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Nunez and Wessel represented the seller, Budget Storage Development, LLC, of Wichita, Kansas. Jerome Castillo of Titan Realty, represented the buyer, WC Capital, LLC, also of Wichita.
“Mr. Wessel and I had previously represented the seller,” Nunez said. “The off-market sale represented an opportunity for the seller to exit an asset that was not strategic with his other real estate holdings and allowed him to 1031 Exchange into a more advantageous deal.
“The seller was very pleased with the ease of the deal and the pricing which was achieved,” Nunez said.
Budget Storage sits on three acres at 2511 17th Ave., in Hutchinson. It is the largest self-storage property in Hutchinson, Kansas, and comprises 53,700 square feet with more than 320 units. It is located between the Hutchinson Municipal Airport and the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Nunez specializes in self storage, offering localized expertise in Arizona and national representation working with NAI offices throughout the United States.

Phoenix, Ariz. (November 7, 2017) — The Arizona chapter of NAIOP, a prominent commercial real estate voice in the state, has named Suzanne Kinney as its new president.
Kinney joins NAIOP Arizona after a stint as interim manager for the Arizona Mining Association where she managed operations and activities of the statewide trade association for the mining industry. Prior to that, she was CEO and founder of Southwest Business Policy, a public policy and communications consulting firm, and served for eight years in senior leadership positions with the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Kinney brings extensive experience in public policy, advocacy and communications to her new role with NAIOP Arizona. Areas of public policy expertise include economic development, international trade, health care, education and natural resources.
“I’m honored and humbled to be leading an association of such prominence in our state,” Kinney said. “I look forward to working alongside some of the most influential leaders within the commercial real estate industry and continuing to advance the initiatives of the organization.”
From 2005 to 2013 Kinney helped lead the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry through her roles as both Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Founder/Executive Director of the Arizona Chamber Foundation.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have someone of Suzanne’s caliber coming on board to lead our organization,” said NAIOP Arizona Chairman Larry Pobuda of The Opus Group. “Suzanne’s depth of experience and visionary thought leadership will serve our membership well.”
In 2002 Kinney served as a senior management research analyst at the Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University. Prior to moving to Arizona, she was an associate at a management consulting firm in Chicago.
A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Kinney earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political economy (major) and Spanish (minor) from Tulane University in New Orleans. She also earned a Master of Arts degree in international relations with emphasis on international trade policy from the University of Chicago.
Kinney was named to the Phoenix Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 class of 2009. She has served on the board of directors for several Arizona-based non-profits, including the Institute for Mental Health Research, the Arizona Business and Education Coalition, and the World Affairs Council/Global Ties Arizona.
Kinney has also served on advisory committees for Expect More Arizona, the Flinn Foundation’s Arizona Bioscience Roadmap, and the Arizona Technology Council.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (November 7, 2017) – NAI Horizon negotiated the $3.1 million sale of building in Phoenix that will serve as the new offices, adoption center, and no-kill shelter for the Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PCAA911).
The NAI retail properties team of Senior Vice Presidents Chris Gerow, Shelby Tworek, Gabe Ortega, and Associate Patrick Anthon represented the buyer, the Virginia B. Jontes Foundation of Phoenix.

GILBERT, ARIZONA (October 30, 2017) – Earthworks Environmental LLC continues its growth in Arizona with the hiring of Compliance Manager Jamie Zanazzo, Principal Cherie Koester announced.
Zanazzo will be responsible for storm water pollution prevention (SWPP), dust inspections, and rain event inspections. Her duties will also include updating site maps, electronic rain logs, and site rain logs. She will represent clients at regulatory inspections.
Zanazzo joins Earthworks Environmental from the Town of Gilbert, where she served as Environmental Compliance Inspector for almost two years. She was responsible for program development and continued education and enforcement of local, county, state, and national regulations for storm water, air quality, and permitting within Gilbert.
“Jamie is the ideal addition to Earthworks,” Koester said. “She is experienced in regulatory and industry matters. I’m excited to see where she leads the East Valley in her consulting.”
Zanazzo was raised in Alaska. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in biology. After college, she worked for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. She was also a bear-viewing and fishing guide for Redoubt Bay Lodge. Zanazzo and her husband, Matthew, are expecting their first child in February.
Last November, Earthworks Environmental opened an office in the Orlando/Tampa/Jackson, Fla., area. Lead Compliance Manager Mark Hubbard operates the Florida office. The Gilbert, Arizona-based firm also has offices in Texas and Illinois.
Earthworks Environmental services include storm water pollution prevention, dust control, and construction safety compliances. The firm primarily serves land developers, vertical developers, commercial construction, and land holding companies.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (October 23, 2017): NAI Horizon negotiated a long-term lease for Planet Fitness at 15569 W. Bell Rd., in Surprise, Arizona. Prior to this deal, NAI Horizon has recently negotiated long-term leases totaling more than $15 million for Planet Fitness locations in Tempe, Phoenix, Goodyear, and Peoria.
The NAI Horizon retail properties team of Senior Vice Presidents Chris Gerow, Shelby Tworek, Gabe Ortega, and Associate Patrick Anthon represented the tenant, Planet Fitness, in the Surprise transaction totaling $2.8 million.
“This transaction has been two years in the making as the property has gone through receivership and multiple owners,” Tworek said. “Planet Fitness has analyzed the demographic profile of Surprise and is excited to expand into that market and capitalize on a good piece of real estate.”
The new Surprise Planet Fitness location will take up 27,059 square feet at the intersection of Bell and Reems roads.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (October 17, 2017) – NAI Horizon Senior Vice President Laurel Lewis and Vice President Tom Bean, CCIM, negotiated two long-term office leases totaling $1.29 million on behalf of the landlord, the State Bar of Arizona, at 4201 N. 24th St., in Phoenix.
NAI Horizon negotiated a long-term lease worth $955,185 for Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education. It will lease 4,962 square feet. The nonprofit foundation prepares Arizona youth for civic responsibility and provides access to justice for Arizonans most in need.
NAI Horizon also negotiated a long-term lease worth $337,445 for Weight Watchers of Arizona, Inc. It will occupy 2,878 SF.
“The tenants that choose to locate at 4201 N. 24th St. enjoy the value that the State Bar of Arizona adds through enhanced security and a high level of attention to property maintenance,” Lewis said. “It also provides an attractive and up-to-date building on all levels as well as close proximity to the attractive and amenity-rich Camelback Corridor.”
